Like magic, there was the concert on-line and available to everyone accross the globe! Far-out!
If you can't make it to the show, real and in person, I hope you get the chance to tune in Saturday February 13 at 7:30pm and then send us your comments and tell us where you're watching from. Why not ask James Lee a question even...
Thank you.
Cheers! Lani.
Peace through music.

About Annie and Rod: With a rootsy vibe, a touch of twang, and a soulful groove, Annie and Rod Capps are a genre-bending singer/songwriter duo. Genuine, effortless and endearing; they’ve been enchanting audiences in quality music venues, house concerts, coffeehouses and festivals throughout the Midwest and beyond, making a name for themselves as one of Michigan's top performing artists.

They're proud to announce the release their 6th recording, “My Blue Garden”, a collection of poignant, thought-provoking portraits, backed up by a top-shelf ensemble of some of the finest Michigan artists. In the first month of its release it became the # 2 album on the Folk Radio charts and the title track was the #1 Song.

Jason Dennie, of Redford, MI will be joining Annie and Rod on stage, adding both mandolin and harmony vocal to their set. While, Jason is best known for his solo fingerstyle guitar work, of late he’s been singing up a storm, letting his sweet bluegrass-influenced tenor voice be heard on both traditional songs and his own original compositions.  http://jasondennie.com

Nov 20, 2009 Pieta Brown Rockford Illinois US

About Pieta: Since the sublime ‘Remember The Sun’ (One Little Indian Records), Pieta Brown continues to ride the upward arc begun with her eponymous debut in 2002 and extended by 2005’s critically acclaimed ‘In the Cool’. 'Remember The Sun' landed at 2 on music critic Michael Ross’ list for the Village Voice’s 35th Annual Critic’s Poll, and the Wall Street Journal included it in their list of the best of 2007.  This enigmatic Midwesterner has also recently released a new EP, entitled "Flight Time", which seemingly arrived out of the blue and has already landed on critic’s lists as well (No Depression Individual Critic’s Picks of 2008).

Touring with Pieta is Bo Ramsey

About Bo: Bo's distinctive, inimitable guitar sounds have graced the recorded works of numerous artists, including extraordinary Nashville singer/songwriter Kate Campbell's Visions Of Plenty (Compass), folk god Pete Seeger with Larry Long on If I Had A Song . . . : The Songs Of Pete Seeger, Vol. II (Appleseed), a track on alt-folkie Ani DiFranco's Swing Set (Righteous Babe), and two tracks — which he also produced — on country-roots queen Iris DeMent's latest disc, Lifeline (Flariella). He's also appeared on discs by R.B. Morris, Mark Stuart, Brother Trucker, Joe Price and Jennifer Danielson. He also produced a six-song session for Joan Baez.

The demand for Ramsey's unmistakable imprint on other artists' work has tended to keep his own work on the back-burner, but Bo's a fine, evocative and passionate writer in his own right and a commanding singer and performer.  Come see him live with Pieta on November 20.

School programs will be held both days .  Keith School and RESA Middle School will have programs Wednesday afternoon.  On Wednesday evening we will be hosting an evening show at Big Cities Lounge at 7:30 PM.  Tickets for the show are $7 in advance and for members, $10 at the door, and free for students accompanied by adults.  Thursday school; programs are at Spring Creek Elementary School and Montessori Magnet School.  On Thursday evening we will hold both a harmonica and guitar lesson workshop.  Joe will school those who sign up on blues harp while Eric will instruct attendees on blues guitar.  This will be held at Katie’s Cup on 7th Street in Rockford at 7 PM.  The workshop fee is $20 per person.

Joe Filsiko & Eric Noden’s first CD“Live” featured versions of early blues and roots songs by Sonny Terry, Daddy Stovepipe, Fred McDowell and the Gwen Foster. The CD’s success led to several European tours as well as festival and workshop appearances in the US.  Their new release “I.C. Special” (reviewed in this issue) continues to draw on American music from the 1920’s & 30’s. All 15 tunes on “I.C. Special” were written by either Joe or Eric and each represents a different branch of American roots music. This new work brings Joe & Eric into a realm that embraces their influences while blending them together in unique ways. This fall the duo will be performing at the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany as well as the Harmonicales festival in Condat, France. For more information on the two artists, visit: www.ericnoden.com/Filisko_Noden/bio.html

Oct 16, 2009 Judy Collins Rockford IL

About Judy: Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Her impressive career has spanned more than 40 years. At 13, Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart's "Concerto for Two Pianos" but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked Judy Collins' love of lyrics. She soon moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love with the guitar. In 1961, Judy Collins released her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22 and began a thirty-five year association with Jac Holzman and Elektra Records.

Judy Collins is also noted for her rendition of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" on her classic 1967 album, Wildflowers. "Both Sides Now" has since been entered into the Grammy's Hall of Fame. Winning "Song of the Year" at the 1975 Grammy's Awards show was Judy's version of "Send in the Clowns," a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical "A Little Night Music."

Judy Collins continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.  The cultural icon will appear for one night only, October 16, at The Coronado Theatre.
